Employee Feature: Q&A with Karina Perez, Senior Account Executive, Latin America
Meet Karina Perez, a senior account executive on our Latin American team. Karina shares how her professional journey led her to Copperleaf®, her experience as a remote employee, and the best thing she’s learned on the job.
What is your role and what do you do?
As a sales executive on the Latin American team, I’m responsible for building relationships with Copperleaf’s prospects and clients, and helping organizations understand how Copperleaf’s Decision Analytics Solutions can enhance their businesses.
Communication is one of the most important aspects of my job. I listen carefully in order to understand a prospect’s current business practices, planning processes, and challenges—and help create a vision for solving these key pain points.
Can you tell us about your professional background and what led you to Copperleaf?
I worked at MetroGas, a gas distribution company in Argentina, for over 13 years. In my last few years there, I led the IT Project Management Office (PMO) and often met with vendors who would try to sell us software without having any knowledge of the gas distribution business.
My next position took me to Oracle where I spent ten years in technical sales. Having recently been on the other side of the table, I knew I didn’t want to be the kind of sales person that made prospects suffer through endless speeches about software features and functionality! Instead, I wanted to come prepared and be able to discuss things that were specific to the prospect’s business.
I made the decision to move to Copperleaf because I wanted to expand my knowledge and work for a company that values product excellence and innovation, and where I feel more like part of a family. I’ve been here for two years and it’s been a great learning experience—and a lot of fun!
What is your favourite part about working at Copperleaf?
The best part about working at Copperleaf is that our solutions work! Though that sounds obvious, I’ve experienced a lot of headaches in the past when trying to sell software that didn’t add value.

How do your team members support you as a remote employee?
I don’t really feel like a remote employee because I chat with my colleagues every day, and I always get a quick response to any requests, questions, or information I need. I can easily discuss strategies with my team, and we’re all open to listening to one another and sharing ideas.
How would you describe the company culture in five words?
Professional, committed, supportive, focused, empathetic, fun. (I know…that’s six!)
What’s the best thing that you’ve learned on the job?
The small things matter. I’ve learned the importance of being thoughtful, respectful and committed to our clients—and to try to improve every single day.
What are you looking forward to in the next year?
I look forward to being able to meet with people in person again!
Do you have any hobbies or secret talents?
Since I’m way too uncoordinated for sports like tennis or swimming, I’ve come to realize the easiest thing to do is to walk, except faster, which means run—so I run marathons!
As a fast-growing global software company, Copperleaf is always looking for talented individuals to join our team! Check out our current job openings here.
