Copperleaf Wraps Up First Nordic AIPM Forum
At Copperleaf™, we encourage the Asset Investment Planning & Management (AIPM) community to network, share knowledge, and learn from each other’s successes and experiences—to help drive the industry forward. It was a delight to welcome key infrastructure organisations across Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iceland, and Denmark to our first Nordic AIPM Forum.
Even though we could not meet in person due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, the valuable thought leader sessions and interactive digital workshop provided an opportunity to share challenges, plans, and insights in a fun and engaging way.
Digital Transformation in a Changing World
David Ringmar, CEO of Cartina, a Stockholm-based management consultancy, explored the benefits of being more data driven around asset management. David provided several real-world examples of how leading organisations are preparing for the future of digital transformation by adopting strategies to manage the resistance to change. David further discussed how shifting from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset drives organisational agility and business sustainability.
Transforming How the World Sees Value
Priorities often depend on who you are asking—and decisions are often made on the strength of advocacy (i.e. who can articulate their business case in the most compelling way).
Copperleaf VP of Sales for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), Wayne Collins, explained why making investment decisions is such a challenge and demonstrated why establishing a common understanding of value is key to navigating this complexity—and to making more transparent and objective decisions.
Agility emerged as a core theme for all our delegates as they search for more sustainable business value in an uncertain world. At Copperleaf, we help our clients navigate uncertainty with greater confidence and resilience, and we’re very much looking forward to exploring the future together.

Virtual Collaboration
During a digital workshop, Ian Muirhead, Director of Product Design at Copperleaf, led a discussion where delegates shared what’s moving AIPM forward in their organisations and what’s holding them back. Participants had fun using digital sticky notes as Ian took them on an interactive journey to explore best practices and the benefits of asset investment planning.
Creative, Adaptive, and Systematic Approaches to Investment Planning
Ms. Unnur Thorvaldsdottir, Head of Asset Management at Landsvirkjun, inspired delegates with the asset management journey of Iceland’s largest electricity generator and presented the key drivers that led to the implementation of C55.
She explained that Landsvirkjun operates 15 hydroelectric and geothermal power stations across Iceland. In operating these stations, emphasis is placed on a holistic vision, where prudence, reliability, and harmony of the operations with the environment and society are the guiding principles. Iceland currently generates 99% of its energy from renewable hydroelectric and geothermal sources.
I enjoyed the event and always value the opportunity to hear from other companies. We are dealing with similar issues in the world of asset management and I believe it is our shared experiences that lead us forward in this industry. I have a couple of new ideas to take home with me and am already looking forward to our next meeting.
