PIPES 2021: Copperleaf Connects Pipeline Clients from Around the World
In October 2021, we wrapped another successful Copperleaf PIPES (Pipeline Investment Planning Excellence Summit) event, which brought together clients from around the world to network, share, and learn.
PIPES 2021 kicked off with National Grid’s Pradheep Kileti who presented a keynote on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) adapted from a presentation he delivered at COP26, the UN Climate Change Conference in Glasgow. We were fortunate and grateful to have speakers from six client organizations lead multiple breakouts sessions on key topics, including:
- ESG
- Asset Risk
- Long-term Planning
- Performance Management and Reporting
The level of engagement was incredible with attendees participating in the interactive discussions to share best practices and learnings.
The PIPES event gave me insight into how other companies manage their assets and operate their businesses, and how they use the Copperleaf solution. Being involved with the PIPES event enables me to connect with peers to share and learn from each other. This community experience is invaluable and a large part of what makes Copperleaf more than just a software vendor, but a true partner, and I’m looking forward to being part of its continued evolution and growth.

We also realized that people are more likely to really engage and interact with each other online when groups are smaller. Let’s be honest, most people don’t want to turn their cameras on and speak live at a large virtual event, but are much more open when they know it’s a safe space with a small group of their peers. This led the steering team to recommend a change in format for the coming year. Instead of one large, annual event, we’re planning to hold regular, smaller, ‘working group’ style sessions throughout the year. Topics will be developed based on input from our community of pipeline clients—with half of the sessions led by clients and the other half by Copperleaf subject matter experts.
Growing this community and the engagement between us all—especially as the Copperleaf client base expands—continues to be a priority for me, because of the extraordinary value we get from hearing other organizations’ challenges and successes. While training and experience is great, there is nothing quite like learning from peers, and knowing we’re not alone in our journey.

I’m looking forward to continuing working with clients to come up with new and creative ways to stay connected and expand the Copperleaf Community in 2022 and beyond.
