Employee Feature: Q&A with Floris Jousma, Client Experience Regional Lead, Central Europe

Meet Floris Jousma, Client Experience Regional Lead for Central Europe at Copperleaf^®. Learn more about Floris’ career experience, his favourite parts of the job, and what he gets up to outside of work in our interview.

Can you tell us about your professional background and what led you to Copperleaf?

“When I was studying at university, I was focused on management and economics, and bridging the gap between business processes and IT processes. I started working for a Dutch energy company where I really got in touch with the energy market and utility world. I was immediately very interested in how the whole electricity network operates and functions, for example, how someone sitting in an office could press a button and somewhere 30 km away a power plant would start ramping up.

This interest persisted throughout my career and I spent a lot of time doing consultancy work for energy companies like Enexis. When the opportunity to join Copperleaf came up, the role brought together all my experience in the utility sector, IT and software development and it felt like the perfect fit.”

Can you share a bit about your role and what a typical week looks like?

“My role is a mix of hands-on project work, consultancy, and managing my team. I have 7 people on my team at the moment and 5 of them have been working at Copperleaf for less than a year, so there is a lot of coaching work, professional development, and making sure they have everything they need to succeed.”

What has been your best day at Copperleaf so far?

“Some of my best days at Copperleaf have been our team meetings. We had so much fun in Berlin together, and our most recent meeting in Malaga was fantastic. We all work remotely so it’s nice to be together and spend some quality time with one another. It gives us the opportunity to look each other in the eye, celebrate our wins, and learn from each other.”

How would you describe the company culture?

“It’s very open—you can always talk to your team lead or anyone else you’re working with. There’s no blame culture here—nobody is punished if something goes wrong. We work together as a team to solve any issues and help each other. It doesn’t matter how busy someone is, they make time for you.”

What are you looking forward to in the next year?

“We’ve just started working with a new pharmaceutical client in Europe. This is a new line of business for Copperleaf, so we’re really excited to work with them and see their success. I’m also looking forward to helping my team grow throughout the year, making sure they’re learning a lot and feeling happy in their roles.”

What keeps you busy outside of work?

“Outside of work, I’m usually driving my motorcycle or going on holiday, spending time with family and friends. I’ve also just started playing golf so I’m really enjoying that at the moment.”
