COP26 UN Climate Change Conference: An Introduction
On October 31st, the COP26 summit starts in Glasgow, after a one-year postponement due to the pandemic. This hiatus and the profound changes triggered by the pandemic make COP26 even more crucial than prior editions of this UN Climate Change Conference. The urgency to act is growing, and increasingly understood by all parties.
Organizations are being challenged to cut their carbon emissions, and many have expressed their intention to achieve net zero in the coming decades. But the Climate Action 100+ site clearly highlights the greatest challenge facing many organizations: how to align everyday decision making with the aspirational net zero goals announced by top management. We at Copperleaf are fully convinced of the importance of COP26. Our purpose is to build a better world, one decision at a time. We do this by helping our clients make complex investment decisions with confidence—and the increased pressure of climate change and ESG targets has made our unique value-based approach to decision making even more relevant.
Judi Hess, CEO of Copperleaf, provides a short introduction on how we help organizations strike the delicate balance between meeting existing business commitments while also delivering on their net zero commitments:
