Copperleaf CEO Judi Hess Wins Person of the Year Award at the TIAs!
On June 1st, the Copperleaf team attended the BC Tech Association’s 25th annual Technology Impact Awards (TIAs) where our CEO, Judi Hess, was honoured with the 2018 Person of the Year Award!
Founded in 1994 by the BC Tech Association, the TIAs celebrate the change makers, the up-and-comers, the innovators, and the bold—those who are transforming our industry and building the fabric of British Columbia’s vibrant tech ecosystem.
The Person of the Year Award commemorates an individual who has made a significant entrepreneurial contribution to the BC tech ecosystem in the past year. The selection criteria is an accumulation of personal contributions, bold entrepreneurial risk-taking, mentorship of key talent, and winning in a way that showcases the best of BC Tech culture.
Judi Hess was selected for her many contributions to the BC technology sector and for her dedication to supporting women in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). Judi spent 9 years on the British Columbia Premier’s Technology Council supporting policy development for the tech sector within the province. She is currently a member of the Federal Economic Strategy – Clean Technology Table, and has been a featured speaker at the leadership summit, Globe Forum, where she spoke about the value of sustainability.
Under Judi’s leadership, Copperleaf’s revenues have grown by 843% over the past five years and sales have grown by over 100% from 2016 to 2017. Copperleaf™ has been recognized on numerous occasions for its growth and innovation, including the Top 20 Biggest Software Companies in B.C., BC Tech’s Adoption of Technology Award, and the PROFIT 500 List of Canada’s Fastest-Growing Companies.
In her acceptance speech, Judi commented:
I’m a huge fan of women in STEM. I’m a huge fan of technology in British Columbia, and all I want to do is help this sector grow. When I look back at the time I started here, 36 years ago, I just can’t believe how much we’ve done…I hope we do a fantastic job driving [BC’s technology industry] forward and I hope I can be a part of that for many, many more years.
