Copperleaf Announces $10 Million USD Investment from National Grid Partners
Vancouver, BC, June 12, 2019—Copperleaf®, a global leader in decision analytics solutions, today announced the completion of a $10 million USD strategic investment from National Grid Partners (NGP), the innovation and investment arm of National Grid, one of the world’s largest investor-owned energy companies. One of NGP’s mandates is to invest in high-growth companies with disruptive technologies that can help National Grid better perform its core operations and play a role in the global disruption of the energy sector. Copperleaf enables National Grid to deliver superior investment decision making and budget planning analytics than was previously possible.
This announcement follows the selection of the Copperleaf Decision Analytics Solution by National Grid for three of its business units. In 2016, Copperleaf was implemented at National Grid to enhance decision making for its gas distribution infrastructure in the northeastern US, and in 2018, the company selected the Copperleaf solution for its electricity transmission and gas transmission operations in the UK.
“Like many companies, National Grid invests in critical infrastructure assets. We rely on Copperleaf to make the best infrastructure investment decisions given a myriad of strategic and operational constraints,” commented Lisa Lambert, National Grid’s Chief Technology and Innovation Officer, and Founder and President, National Grid Partners. “At the same time, Copperleaf is perfectly aligned with National Grid Partners’ mandate of investing in segment-leading companies that are disrupting the energy industry. We look forward to strengthening the partnership between National Grid and Copperleaf.”
Headquartered in Vancouver, Copperleaf is a fast-growing, dynamic company that has been developing innovative approaches to making asset investment decisions since 2000. In 2018, Copperleaf’s revenue growth placed the company on the GROWTH 500 ranking of Canada’s Fastest-Growing Companies for the fourth consecutive year, and Deloitte’s Technology Fast 500™ ranking of the fastest-growing technology companies in North America.
Copperleaf will use the capital to fund innovation and growth into new markets and geographies worldwide, and to continue its focus on delivering exceptional value and extraordinary experiences to its customers.
“We’re excited to expand our relationship with National Grid, one of the leading energy brands in the world,” said Judi Hess, Copperleaf CEO. “We see this as an opportunity to partner with the NGP team to expand our footprint within the National Grid global network, and benefit from the company’s unique approach to innovation and proven expertise in the energy sector.”
With this announcement, Andre Turenne, Director of Corporate Venture Capital at National Grid Partners will join the Copperleaf Board of Directors. Andre brings more than 30 years of venture capital, business development, operating and technical experience to Copperleaf.
